Accessing Services
The BB Unit aims to provide services based on various areas
of expertise in genetic analysis of multifactorial
disorders, database development and customised bioinformatics software
programming.
 Genetic analysis. Basic and complex
analysis of allelic and haplotype association and
linkage disequilibrium using parent-offspring trios or case/control datasets;
linkage analysis of affected sib-pairs samples and multigenerational
pedigrees. A wide range of statistical methods is used, from classical
transmission disequilibrium test to novel stepwise logistic regression
procedures.
Database services. A database server
system to provide for phenotypic and genotypic data storage, sample
management, data conversion utilities, and some basic automated statistical
analysis. It will be accessible from the Internet.
Programming. Customised software modules
and solutions for bioinformatics database mining, automated statistical
analysis of variable-sized datasets.
